I returned last night from my bike ride from Kathmandu to Kalimpong; I cycled every inch of the way which was 567.88 Km (only 3 of us managed that); it was the cycle ride of my life! Really it was both challenging and enjoyable and I have raised a fantastic sum of money for the school; now more than £3,000.
The weather was kind, clear sky throughout with cold nights and warm days. Some of the climbs were brutal; the last one was the toughest; 1600 metres (1 mile) in altitude over 10km (6 miles) in distance (that is climb ratio of 1:6 average and 1:4 at times) but I managed them all without stopping so I was rather happy with that. The downhill runs were exhilarating up to 60 Kph with hairpin bends etc, really it was rather exciting. I have some of it on my GoPro camera; when I learn how to edit it I will put the best bits into a video!!
Well the climb up to Howe’s Wood on my bike will not seem so long in future!! Very many thanks for you sponsorship, I have had such wonderful support and I am very grateful to everyone for getting behind me on this.
