Jane Bradbury’s Educational Foundation is a long-established local charity that awards grants to young people under the age of 25 who live in Littlebury, Littlebury Green and Catmere End.
In recent years the trustees of this established local charity have awarded grants, varying in value from £50 to £500, towards the cost of education-related projects and activities such as:
Special needs tuition, courses and workshops, university text books, residential school trips, travel expenses for educational trips, materials and equipment, university years abroad, music lessons and instruments, karate lessons.
Making an application
Making an application is easy. All we ask you to do is to submit a simple form along with a letter of support from your child’s school or tutor. We aim to make an award to everyone who applies, but this does depend on funds available and how many applications we receive.
The two closing dates for applications are 31st May and 31st October each year. The trustees meet soon after these closing dates to consider applications and awards are usually made in mid-June and mid-November.
Application forms and more information are available from

History of the Trust
In 1585 Dame Jane Bradbury left money in her will to establish a school in Littlebury. Over 400 years later, this Trust that bears her name holds investments resulting from the sale of the school in the 1970s and a piece of agricultural land more recently, and it is the income from these investments that funds the Trust’s grants. The Trust has absolutely nothing to do with the school in Saffron Walden that was established by Jane Bradbury’s distant relative by marriage, Dame Johane Bradbury.
