On the chilly morning of Sunday, 22nd March, residents of Littlebury Green donned hi-vis jackets and gardening gloves to rid the village of roadside litter. The stretch of highway from Elmdon Lee, through the village to the crossroads and down Chestnut Avenue to the railway bridge was treated to a spring clean, just as the first Celandines and Primroses were coming into flower. The initiative was prompted by Essex Wildlife Trust’s Spring Clean campaign, which runs each year in March. The group are pleased to report less litter than last year. Chestnut Avenue yielded the most rubbish and the weirdest find; an unopened pack of pork chops!

Many thanks to all who took part, and to residents who litter pick on their walks throughout the year; local wildlife will be most grateful.
