Weekend patrols in Saffron Walden
Over the weekend, the Neighbourhood Policing Team were out on foot patrol across Saffron Walden, engaging with residents, supporting local businesses, and focusing efforts on tackling antisocial behaviour in key hotspot areas.
During the patrol officers seized an electric scooter being used illegally, reinforcing our commitment to keeping public spaces safe and enjoyable for everyone. A big thank you to all the residents who stopped to chat and share their thoughts—your input is always valued.
Heritage crime awareness visit to Saffron Walden Museum
As part of Heritage Crime week, PC Barber from the Rural Engagement Team joined our local Heritage Crime Officer, PCSO Michael O’Donnell-Smith, for a visit to Saffron Walden Museum. During the visit, they met with the museum curator to discuss safeguarding their valuable exhibits and collections. A key topic was nighthawking—the illegal use of metal detectors to unearth artefacts without permission—which can lead to the irretrievable loss of historically significant items and information. Together, we explored ways to raise public awareness about heritage crime.
