Local craftsmen have completed the restoration of the clock, including re-gilding the hands and numerals. Bob Rust, Church Fabric Officer, writes to say that the mechanism has also been overhauled.
The work was carried out by A. James (Jewellers) Ltd and Whitehead and Day, both of Saffron Walden. The weather vane on the tower gleams too, having been re-gilded by Colin Hall of Cherry Hinton. The cost of just over £5,000 was funded largely by grants from Stansted Airport Community Trust, The Mercers’ Company, Uttlesford District Council and Littlebury Parish Council.
