Last Friday saw Littlebury Ladies and guests go on a walk through the bluebells in Howe Wood lead by Audley End Estate Gamekeeper Geoff Garrod. The event was organised by Katie Fraser and saw multiple generations of families guided through the wood. Geoff described the work that goes on the regenerate the wood with clearing of dying trees, including ashes suffering from Ash dieback disease, and replanting with native species including hazel, white thorn and beech. He pointed out some rare white bluebells amidst the sea of blue and the wild garlic that is also in flower. He also explained how deer numbers are limited.
Katie commented “How amazing to be walking through such a magical place together. “
