Village Hall honours long serving Trustees

In glorious sunshine on Saturday the newly improved Littlebury village hall garden was dedicated to the memory of Denis Wright MBE who supported the village hall and local community for most of his life. A bench was also dedicated to other long-serving village hall trustees, Mrs Susan Lloyd, Mr John Penney and Mr Gordon Wilby. Littlebury residents and the friends and family of Denis and John were joined by Susan, Gordon and their friends and family for the ceremony. Words of thanks were said by Paul Fennelly, Chairman of the Littlebury village hall committee followed by speeches from Denis’s son Richard; Mrs Lloyd’s daughter Henrietta;  John’s son Paul and Gordon Wilby himself. Just before the serving of a delicious afternoon tea, Denis’s wife Mary cut the ribbons of a bunch of red balloons revealing the new village hall garden plaque.Thank you Abi Porter for the excellent photographs.

The village hall committee thanks everyone involved in the garden project; all of those who so generously answered the call for donations (over £1,000 has been raised); everyone involved in the opening ceremony; and all those who attended on the day.

Village Hall Beach Party - Thank You

On behalf of the Littlebury Village Hall Committee, I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our Littlebury-on Sea Beach Party at the Village Hall on Saturday night. We're still working out the total amount of money raised but it's events like this and the fantastic support we get from our friends and neighbours that enables us to keep the lights (and heat) on at the Village Hall.

A special thank you to the Village Hall committee members (Jean, Marta, Ginny, Andrea, Lisa, Isabelle & Scott) and also to Scott's Jo, Marta's friend Samantha, our BBQers Hugh & Rob, Andrea's Paul and Lisa's mum for all of their hard work to prepare beforehand, set up the hall in Beach Party style, welcome people to the hall and run the night and finally to clear up afterwards. The hall looked fantastic, the welcome was warm and inviting and the drinks from the bar were expertly delivered. And then there were Marta's delicious (naughty) cocktails, the gorgeous food from the BBQ, great music from Paul and to top it off, a chance to show off your surfing skills to all and sundry. And all for £10!! Paul Fennelly, Chair: Village Hall Committee

Launch of 'Littlebury COOKS!'

Dozens of Littlebury folk turned out to purchase copies of 'Littlebury COOKS!', edited by Jo Hancock, for which 126 recipes had been sent in by members of the community, as well as Lady Braybrooke and English Heritage. Many were cooked specially for the occasion and were washed down with Bucks Fizz, a treat for those attending. By the end of the afternoon sales of books, and large scale prints of the cover amounted to well over £1,100 - not including pre-orders - vital funds raised for the Village Hall's continuing modernization. Many thanks to Jo for a lovely village book - and to Joe Higham for some great pics.

A Very Festive Christmas Lunch

A Festive Lunch was served at the Village Hall in aid of the hall and definitely in aid of anyone who came to enjoy it. Thank you Jo, and your team of Christmas pixies, for putting it all together.
Ho Ho Ho! Everyone had a great time.

A Sonsie Beast January 2018

Littlebury residents put their best foot forward enjoying many traditional Scottish dances on Saturday night. John Broomfield read Burns' 'An address to a haggis (the Sonsie beast)' before everyone tucked into a delicious dinner of haggis, tatties and neeps, going on to dance some more. Thank you Isabelle Page for an amazing evening, and all her 'Scottish' helpers too.
